Introduction

Expressive Arts encompasses both Drama & Media and is currently taught in mixed ability groups at Key stage 3. It provides a safe and inclusive environment in which learners are encouraged to express themselves creatively as individuals and by working as part of a group.

Year 7

  • Scripted Role Play
  • Working as an ensemble
  • Improvisation

Year 8

  • Physicality and expression
  • Creating tension on screen
  • Understanding the media (News reporting)
  • Introduction to Filming & editing techniques

KS4

Year 9

Unit 2 (part 1) Controlled assessment Practical work in response to set stimuli of works studied – Contemporary Issues Bullying 60marks marks 30%. Pupils will produce a short drama film.

Year 10

Unit 2 (part 2) Controlled assessment Practical work in response to set stimuli of works studied – Wider Perspective 30 marks 30%. Pupils will produce a documentary film.

Year 11

Unit 1: Exam presentation 15 hour controlled assessment, practical response to a stimulus set by AQA 80 marks 40%. Pupils will create a drama film/piece based on set questions
