Year 7

Autumn 1: Sacraments - To Know and Understand how the Catholic Church ‘Welcomes’ members to live a full life in Christ through a detailed study of the 7 Sacraments.
Autumn 2: Bible, Advent - To Know and Understand how the Bible is the Word of God and an authority to help Christians in making moral decisions and an offer of guidance to a full life in Christ.
To Know & Understand through a detailed study of the waiting and preparation for the coming of the Saviour Jesus Christ.
Spring 1: Prayer & Meditation - To Know and Understand how Prayer and meditation for religious believers can be a key principle in building a relationship and having communication with God.
Spring 2: The Person of Jesus - To Know and Understand the person of Jesus Christ the Incarnate is as a model and teacher through a detailed study of the Gospel accounts of his miracles & parables.
Summer 1: Buddhism & Charity Work - To Know and Understand the key principle of Buddhist through a detailed study of beliefs, principles, rites and rituals. To analyse Jesus’ ‘Golden Rule’ as a guide to Christian teachings on Charity and to reflect upon ways in which our School Community can respond to this call of alms giving.
Summer 2: Creation & Stewardship- To Know and Understand the Christian beliefs of God as Creator through a detailed study of the Old Testament Bible Scripture Teachings in the Book of Genesis and to evaluate the belief that Christians are Stewards of the Earth.

Year 8

Autumn 1: Prophets – To Know and Understand how Old Testament and Modern Day Prophets can be influence Christians in today’s World to follow the teachings of Christ.
Autumn 2: Christmas – To Know and Understand how through a detailed study of the Gospel Accounts the importance and significance of Christmas. To analyse how different Christian’s celebrate a variety of Christmas Traditions and Rituals and to evaluate their meaning.
Spring 1: Easter & Judaism – To Know and Understand that Easter is the most important Christian Feast, through a detailed study of Holy Week and the Triad beliefs about Jesus’ death and resurrection.
To Know and Understand the key principle of Judaism through a detailed study of beliefs, principles, rites and rituals.
Summer 1: Sikhism - To Know and Understand the key principle of Sikhism through a detailed study of beliefs, principles, rites and rituals.
Summer 2: Islam - To Know and Understand the key principle of Islam through a detailed study of beliefs, principles, rites and rituals.

Year 9

Autumn 1: Searching for God - To analyse big questions and to evaluate reasons why some people are Theists, Agnostics and Atheists.
Autumn 2: Marriage & Family – To Know and Understand the Catholic and other Christian teachings on relationships, Marriage and Church teachings on family life.
Spring 1: Crime & Punishment - To Know and Understand how communities benefit from rule of law and how Christians respond to a variety of forms of punishment through an analysis of key Bible Scripture based on Judgement Day.
Spring 2: Peace & Conflict – To identify areas of conflict and study key Bible scripture to analyse Christian teachings on Peace, resolution and forgiveness.
Summer 1: Matters of Life & Death - To Know and Understand the Catholic teachings on the sanctity of life, the gift of life and the belief that God is the Creator of all and that we are all ‘made in his image and likeness’.
Summer 2: Caring for the Sick - To Know and Understand the Catholic teachings on the sanctity of life and how Christians have a responsibility to care for the sick and the dying.

Year 10

Autumn 1: Christianity Beliefs & Teachings - A detailed study of the Nature of God, Creations & the Trinity.
Autumn 2: Christianity: Beliefs & Teachings - A detailed study of the Sin & Salvation, Resurrection, Afterlife and Eschatological beliefs and the study of Jesus Christ.
Spring 1: Christianity: Practices - A detailed study with analysis of key Bible Scripture, Christian forms of Worship & prayer, Christian Denominations of key differences & similarities of beliefs, a detailed study of the 7 Sacraments within the Catholic Church.
Spring 2: Christianity: Practices - A detailed study with analysis of key Bible Scripture of festivals & traditions.
Summer 1: Issues of Relationships - A detailed study with analysis of key Bible Scripture of Relationships, Marriage, Cohabitation, Commitment, Homosexuality and Divorce.
Summer 2: Life & Death – A detailed study with analysis of key Bible Scripture of ethical issues of Abortion, IVF, Organ Donation, Genetic Engineering, Quality of Life, Sanctity of Life, Euthanasia and Life after Death

Year 11

Autumn 1: Good & Evil - A detailed evaluation of how Moral and Natural Evil, Forgiveness, Justice, Morality, Punishment, Sin and Suffering and evaluate how they can cause agnostic/atheist beliefs.
Autumn 2: Human Rights – A detailed analysis of the Human Rights Act, Censorship, Discrimination, Extremism, Personal Conviction, Poverty and Social Justice.
Spring 1: Islam Beliefs & Teachings - A detailed study of the foundations of Faith, the Nature of God, Sin, the Holy Book and Final Judgement.
Spring 2: Islam Practices – A detailed study of the 5 Pillars, Jihad, Prayers, Festivals, Rites and Rituals, differences between Sunni and Shi’a beliefs & practices a detailed analysis of Scripture teachings.
Summer 1: Revision – Past Papers, Timed Questions, Revision workshops, Walking, Talking, Mocks.
