Welcome to our Year 6 transition page and congratulations on receiving a place at our school.
On this page we share lots of information for both parents/carers and pupils. We are delighted to welcome so many young people into the OLSJ family for September 2026.
Please ensure that you return your acceptance via email/admissions website to Blackburn with Darwen school admission team at the earliest opportunity.
It is important whether you accept or decline the offer for OLSJ that the authority is informed.
On accepting your place, you will be sent a link to the data collection form required by OLSJ to begin the transition process. You will also have received this via email/text, unless your contact details have since changed from your original application. This is accessible in various languages for your convenience.
We understand that transition can bring a range of emotions, and we aim to make the process as happy and smooth as possible for both pupil and parent/carer. Our aim is to welcome our new pupils into the OLSJ family and help them to grow academically and socially, in a safe and happy school.

Dates for your diary.
Year 6 transition days –
Year 6 parent/carer information evening – Thursday 2nd July 5.30-6.30pm
Our internal deadline to accept or decline the offer of a place is 31st March 2026. Once again, if accepting or declining please let both the school and Blackburn with Darwen admissions know. Please ensure the offer is completed as we have a waiting list.
Parents/carer who fail to respond to their offer of a school place will be contacted by the admission team at Blackburn with Darwen either by email or letter. You will be asked to respond and confirm whether you accept or decline the place you have been offered for your child.
If you do not respond to this correspondence by the date stipulated, we will assume that you do not require the place, and it will be withdrawn. This will mean that your child will be without a school place. If you then decide you want a place at an academy or a maintained school for your child, you will have to contact the admissions team to discuss an alternative school place for your child.
