Welcome to our Year 6 transition page.

On the 31st of October 2023 secondary school applications need to be submitted. After this date it will be considered a late application. Please ensure you complete this in advance once you have completed your visit to our school at Open day/Evening.

We update this page regularly and share lots of information for both parents/carers and pupils. We are pleased, once again last year, to have received so many applications, which has now resulted in us being oversubscribed in year 7.  

Please ensure that you return your acceptance (once released in March 2024) via email to Blackburn with Darwen school admission team at the earliest opportunity. 

It is important whether you accept or decline that the authority are informed.

We understand that transition can bring a range of emotions and we aim to make the process as happy and smooth as possible for both pupil and parent/carer. Our aim is to welcome our new pupils into the OLSJ family and help them to grow academically and socially, in a safe and happy school.

The deadline to accept or decline the offer of a place is March 2024.

Parents/carer who fail to respond to their offer of a school place will be contacted by the admission team at Blackburn with Darwen either by email or letter. You will be asked to respond and confirm whether you accept or decline the place you have been offered for your child.

If you do not respond to this correspondence by the date stipulated, we will assume that you do not require the place and it will be withdrawn. This will mean that your child will be without a school place. If you then decide you want a place at an academy or a maintained school for your child, you will have to contact the admissions team to discuss an alternative school place for your child.
